Ian says people wait too long to act

Transcript: “You know, real time memories of what happened, World War One and World War Two, and all that awfulness in the twenties and thirties, as we get away from that, and young people today they don’t know anything about even The Holocaust, they’re clueless, not to mention you know The Soviet Union, the purges, the starvation, Ukraine, World War One, just limitless slaughter for no particular reason, uh, after all that was done, then they were all ready for Social Democracy, great! So then, it was really groovy, but what did it take to get there? So that’s human beings. They’re fucking stupid! So now The Earth is gonna freak out. The Antarctic is gonna melt. These cities are gonna go underwater. And then, when the shit completely hits the fan, and eight hundred thousand Indians decide they’re moving to Europe, then people are going to say, 'Oh no. Climate change is a big deal. We have to do something!' You know. It’s pretty easy to see that, based on what you’re saying, we could do it now. But I don’t think, I don’t think humans are cut that way. I don’t think most of them are like you. Most of them just hang on to the same old, same old. ‘Don’t step in my orange grove.’ ‘Don’t mess with my you know my Hollywood version of what’s happening.’ ‘I refuse to listen to you, Gershowitz!’ They’re not listening, so, so we’re gonna get it good and hard. And then, when disaster strikes, and it’s so bad that you can’t ignore it, then finally they’ll wake up."
